Sports Photography - AIHL Ice Hockey Melbourne Mustangs Vs CBR Brave

I wasn't planning on going to the Ice Hockey today so I hadn't put much thought into how to photograph it, and I must admit for the first two periods I was just watching the game, as the team I support - The Melbourne Mustangs tried to beat the CBR Brave in the first Semi Final of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL).

But by period 3, with a score of 5-1 it was clear the 'Stangs were going to lose so I thought I'd try my hand at some sports photography, This was all done with a Fujifilm X-E3 and the 35mm F2 fujinon lens (which is 50mm on a full frame).

I find shooting Ice hockey easier than AFL, which I've tried before, it's closer, which means a small, fast 50mm lens works, the movement is a little more predictable, the key problem is having to shot through thick glass which is covered in marks from the pucks flying into it.

But for a first shot I'm a happy little fella, might give it another shot next season...
