Promise Fulfilled! This One's For The Land

in #sports6 years ago

When LeBron James went to Miami it seemed that everyone had an opinion about it - I know I certainly did - and when he won two years in a row people were polarized on whether to feel happy for him or just chalk it up to overpowering the other teams. When he made the move to go back to Cleveland though, I had nothing but respect for him, and when he made the promise to bring a championship to his home, I actively rooted for him to fulfill that promise.

Well it happened, and on June 19th, 2016 he fulfilled that promise, taking game 7 in Golden State to secure his third championship. His chase-down block on Andre Iguodala was one of the biggest moments in the game, and kept the game locked at 89-89 with 1:50 left in the fourth quarter.

The Cavaliers would go on to win 93-89. The historical side of this is that they became the first team in history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win it all.

The Warriors won games 1 and 2 at home, but lost game 3 in Cleveland. They then took game 4 on the road and it looked like it was the end for LeBron and Kyrie Irving. They rallied though, and took the next three games to win the series 4-3. LeBron was named Finals MVP for the third time after averaging 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game.

That summer Kyrie left for Boston, undeterred though, LeBron has still carried the Cavs to the Finals each year since. He has lost 4-1 and 4-0 to the superteam known as the Golden State Warriors though each time.

Sort:

He has given the city everything he said he would. Time to move on.

Agreed, he gave that city everything he could, he will go down probably as the greatest Cleveland athlete, the team has made no significant changes to help him succeed there so I definitely think he's leaving.

Really intersting to see what he will decide

You said it, no matter where he goes you can bet that it will change hierarchy of the NBA.
