World Championship Wrestling Slamboree 1999 Goes Down in Missouri – May 9th, 1999 – Today in Wrestling History

in #sports4 years ago

World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1999 was beginning to unravel. The New World Order (NWO), both factions, were a shamble on television due to injuries. Unfortunately, storyline wise, so much depended on the NWO dominance that WCW was in a pickle. With that said, they did continue forward with regular Pay Per View (PPV) events such as Slamboree 1999.

Some key take aways here

As mentioned earlier in this article, the NWO were not exactly in their prime at this point. Lex Luger was allegedly out due to torn muscles (Miss Elizabeth was out with him). Kevin Nash would be injured, again, soon after this PPV as well. That is two of the top guys in the NWO Wolfpack.

Did you notice there was an intergender match on this card? Whether you agree with it or not, it has been around for a while in wrestling. Not just the indies either.

What is your favorite match from this card? Tell us in the comments.
