HEY NBA CORNER CUTTERS: YOU'LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT!

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

Apparently I’m not the only one who despises the rule in the NBA that allows players to be bought out after the trade deadline and sign with contenders. It seems the basketball gods don’t like the rule very much either.

Like any good Greek myth, the basketball god Spalding intervened when man failed.

I’ll have a Power Forward, no a Center. I’ll have a shooting guard, no a point guard.

You will get a broken leg and like it!

I normally would never root for a player to get injured, but in the case of a team taking advantage of a stupid loophole in the rules, I’ll make an exception.

It’s ridiculous that the NBA allows teams to buy out players with value who then jump to a playoff team.

It just seems so shady. A league that has had a recent referee scandal should be doing everything they can to avoid seeming shady.

Last year Joe Johnson was allowed to be bought out and then sign with Miami.

The Warriors were also able to obtain the services of Anderson Varejo in a similar way. To top off this underhanded move, Varejo had previously played for the team that everyone knew would win the East. It just seemed so slimy.

Noone who speaks German could be an evil man.

This year the favorites of each conference did it again. They both obtained valuable pieces via the buy out and sign loophole.

Golden state signed Jose Calderon. Right after they did this, Kevin Durant was injured so they released Calderon and picked up Matt Barnes instead. Perhaps the basketball gods were punishing the Warriors for their move.

At least the Warriors had the class to pay Calderon before waving him. Calderon made $415,000 for two hours of “work”.

The other favorite, the Cavaliers, made a couple of slimy deals themselves. The King of finding the easy way out made sure his team signed Andrew Bogut and Deron Williams after they were bought out by non-playoff contenders 76ers and Mavs respectively.

Although both players are past their primes, they are far from scrubs that had traditionally inhabited the waiver wires this late in a season.

Both Bogut and Williams have been on All-NBA teams and Bogut was on the the NBA All Defensive 2nd team as recently as 2015.

Yet both of these players were miraculously available to be picked up by the team that ABC desperately wants in the finals.

But tonight, the basketball gods intervened and struck down Bogut before he even played 60 seconds for King crybaby's team.

At least there is one force more powerful than ABC. The basketball gods have spoken. If the league won’t close this loophole, then they will.

Hopefully the basketball gods will find a way to smite Deron Williams without him having to get hurt.

Maybe he will just suck.
