For the WBC Super Flyweight Championship!
Román 'Chocolatito' Gonzales:
Román is the former Ring Magazine #1 pound for pound fighter in the world, and until March of this year he held a 46-0 record. This Nicaraguan phenom remained undefeated since 2005, and even in loss he has never been outclassed. His last fight was a tough bout against the aggressive and voluminous Thai boxer known as Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
Gonzales was dropped early and out-paced for the first half of the fight, it seemed he found difficulty in timing Rungvisai's punches. As the fight progressed, Choco' showed his championship heart and mettle with ferocious flurries and counters, he started to rack rounds and points back...as he needed them desperately. This battle ended with both men victorious, as there was no clear victor. Gonzales' ability to come back from a flood of damage late showed he is more than a paper champ, he will never quit in the ring!

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai:
This Sisaket Province native is one of the best Thai boxers alive. Regardless of his incredible 48 fight tenure spanning 8 years, Rungvisai had never fought in the United States until this year! His stake to the WBC belt came late last year, and the odds against him were overwhelming. He is a masterful brawler whom doesn't stop throwing even when hurt. The astounding title win this man claimed was mostly due to his brilliant game-plan: he forced a technical boxer into a street fight.
He fought like bat outta' hell for every single round, even when getting countered badly in the championship rounds, he still managed to keep throwing volume and back the savvy former champion up. I feel in no way did Chocolatito underestimate this high caliber boxer, he simply wasn't ready for an absolute bum rush. When Srisaket won the belt, he was appointed as a police officer in Sisaket, one of the highest positions of respect one can achieve in that area. This was the biggest win of his life, and he intends to keep his legacy alive!

Breakdown and Prediction:
This is going to be a much different fight than the first. Chocolatito understands that he can not under estimate the power of a pressure fighter, even one whom does not possess true fight ending power. The aggression and speed of his opponent, as well Rungvisai holding the belt will all be motivation and road blocks for the former champion. A lot is expected of Román, as he is still a top 5 pound for pound fighter, maybe even top 3. The thing about fighting, is that even when a man gets beaten, he can still retain a high rank as the resume of one's work holds more to light than a single great win.
The styles of a Nicaraguan technician and a Thai brawler made the first fight a classic, and will bring us another instant classic if both men are willing and able! The first fight was a majority decision, which meant a single judge saw Román as winning. He came through a lot of hardship in those early rounds; getting dropped and outpaced for most of the early engagements had him heavily behind on the scorecards, and to come back and win the fight in many a fan's mind shows real championship grit! These are two amazing fighters at the top of their craft, in the most important rematch of both their lives...it will be war.

TKO Round 8
Sort:

The first one was a robbery imo, hopefully Chocolatito will be more prepared in this weight and will KO him!

Thank you for a real comment my friend, I do feel as though Chocolatito earned the victory late...but it was a hell of a fight! I think Roman gets the job inside the distance this time, I will be there live as well!
