Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach predictions for this weekend’s Bundesliga action. Eight-time Bundesliga winner Jupp Heynckes (four as a player and four as a coach) prepares to host his former club Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.

A much changed side took to the field in Augsburg last weekend as Bayern Munich came back from a goal down to seal a comprehensive 4-1 win and wrap up a sixth-successive Bundesliga title. Coach Jupp Heynckes has his work cut out in the coming weeks though as the treble hopefuls look ahead to a busy spell of fixtures. Hence, expecting further squad rotation as Bayern focus on next Tuesday’s DFB Pokal semi-final clash against Bayer Leverkusen wouldn’t be a surprise – the likes of James Rodriguez and Robert Lewandowski will likely be rested once again.

Gladbach retain an outside hope of qualifying for Europe after returning to winning ways against Hertha Berlin last time out – their first three-point haul since February (W1 D3 L1). Belgian winger Thorgan Hazard was the hero in that match, stepping off the bench to score a brace and ending his run of nine Bundesliga matches without a goal in the process. Having cemented his spot as the club’s top scorer, Hazard should be in the Monchengladbach starting XI at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening, especially with captain Lars Stindl serving out a one-match ban.

In terms of betting, with this being one of the strongest Bayern Munich sides in years, it’s difficult to see anything other than the current champions getting the job done, even if the Bavarians field a second-string starting XI. Unsurprisingly, Bayern hold one of the strongest home records in the league (W12 D2), scoring an average of just over 3 goals per game on their own turf. Most importantly, when backing something like the “win to nil” market, the six-time reigning champions have also kept a clean sheet in 57% of their league outings at the Allianz Arena.

It would be an understatement to say that Gladbach haven’t been in the best shape in 2018. Gladbach have lacked attacking flair all year – Hecking’s men have failed to score in 50% of their matches in 2018 – and simply have too many off days. Borussia Monchengladbach have one of the better track records against the Bavarians in recent years (see head-to-head), but with the visitors failing to score in six of their last eight on the road, you have to like the odds on this to change come Saturday. With coach Dieter Hecking also missing a few key players ahead of the toughest fixture of the season (see team news), it will be difficult for them to cause Bayern Munich much trouble. Our prediction: a 3-0 Bayern Munich win.

Bayern are missing a lot of players and will surely have problems today.
