  • Foot placement:
    • place your feet a few inches wider than shoulder-width distance and place them along the toe-heel alignment line, with the front foot being at a 45 angle.
    • your weight should be on the balls of your feet. Your back heel should not resting on the ground.
  • Legs: keep your knees bent. You want your lead leg to be firm without being locked.
  • Weight: your weight should be slightly forward (55/45), but don’t allow your head to reach forward.
  • Upper body: your upper body should be slightly tilted forward, with your lead shoulder pointing towards the opponent. This allow you to be less squared and to minimize the target area to your opponent.
  • Hands: keep your hands up, elbows tucked toward your hips, with your right hand off your chin and your left hand off your leading shoulder.
  • Head: your head should not be in front of the lead food and your chin should always be down, “you look through the eyebrows”.
