There was enough interest for 36 participants in the Steem Fantasy Football League Competition. The draft for all of three leagues were last night around 9pm EST. @bigpchef is the commissioner for the first two leagues and I am the commissioner for the third league.

Let’s get to the Draft Result Highlights

1st Round

The first round was filled with only running backs and wide receivers. Harambes Revenge, @kryptocek, had the first pick in 2017 Fantasy Football League Draft. He took David Johnson with the first pick. @paradise-found smartly took the workhorse Le’Veon Bell with the second pick in the draft.

2nd Round

In a PPR league, often times QB’s are not taken this early, but you can’t go wrong with Aaron Rodgers who was picked by @mikeshuh with the 16th overall pick or Tom Brady with the 20th pick in Round 2. The first TE, Rob Gronkowski, was also picked in the second round by Jupiter Explosion, @breakthrough, at #19.

3rd Round

The search for the next breakout running back may very well likely come from one of the avalanche of rookie running backs. It started with @paradise-found selecting Kareem Hunt, the rookie from Toledo, with the 26th overall pick. @Shenanigator selected the Jaguars Leonard Fournette next at # 27. @Sevinwilson, a Florida State football fan since birth, snagged Dalvin Cook with the 28th pick. Why not continue the rookie running back parade with @NikeTheMutt picking the Panthers Christian McCaffrey at # 29. I have a sneaky suspicion that whichever rookie running back has the best campaign, may very well be holding the trophy come year end.

4th Round

Marshawn Lynch has been ready to get back in the NFL since he retired and Gators , @tom74, picked him up with the first pick in the 4th round. I am glad “Beast Mode” is back in the league. With an off the field incident at Oklahoma, Joe Mixon slipped in the NFL Draft, but Corn Cobb Pipe was going to let him slip very far in the Fantasy Draft. Great pick by the guy with the best name in the League.

5th Round

This round was full of wide receiver selections, but none more than important than Larry Fitzgerald. “A team has no name” , @boatsports90, scooped up a sure Hall of Famer in Larry Fitzgerald with the 58th pick in the draft. Larry has won many fantasy football championships for users over the years I can guarantee you. He is past his prime, but still super productive at age 34.

6th Round

Some teams chose to pick up their first quarterback in the 6th round, while other teams continued to add skill position players. With the 62nd pick, Nic NASty , @nicnas, picked up the starting running back Ameer Abdullah of the Detroit Lions. Rico’s Raiders, @Richq11, snagged one of the most underrated receivers in the league in Jamison Crowder with the 65th pick.

“Mr. Irrelevant” in the Fantasy Football Draft

Since 1976, the nickname given to the last pick in the NFL draft is “Mr. Irrelevant”. Back in 1976, this was Kelvin Kirk. In the 2017 Steem Fantasy Football Draft, this title goes to Wide Receiver John Ross of the Cincinnati Bengals, who was selected by Harambes Revenge , @kryptocek, with the final pick (#192) of the 16th round.

Matchups for Week 1

@paradise-found vs @sevinwilson

In regards to this epic matchup between two potential powerhouses, Coach @paradise-found had this to say about his team,

We have to pull out all the stops.

As a 12+ point underdog, coach @sevinwilson said,

We can't let the crowd faze them.

Nic Nasty @nicnas vs @nikethemutt

Although @nicnas might be a 20 point underdog, he was quick to say,

We have to stay hungry.

After strong preseason performances for many of the players on @nikethemutt’s squad, he was quoted saying,

Both teams are playing at a high level.

Jupiter Explosion @breakthrough vs Corn Cobb Pipe

After Dak Prescott exploded on the scene during his rookie year, Jupiter Explosion, @breakthrough, had this to say,

We've got a top-tier offense against a first-rate defense -- something's got to give.

This showdown might be one for the ages and Corn Cobb Pipe said after yesterday’s practice,

There's no love lost between these two teams.

Rico's Raiders @richq11 vs Harambes Revenge @kryptocek

Devonta Freeman was a stud on the field last year and Rico's Raiders @richq11 is happy to have him this year. The Pats defense is one of the best in the league in various categories year in and year out, but Rico’s Raiders @richq11 said,

We have to bend but not break.

With the Buccaneers on a bye due to Hurricane Irma, Ben Roethlisberger and coach Harambes Revenge @kryptocek said,

We have to rise to the occasion.

@mikeshuh vs @Shenanigator

Aaron Rodgers might have the best year of any quarterback ever this season and @mikeshuh is well aware, but also realizing that it is more than just offense. We caught up with @mikeshuh this week and he said,

We must control the tempo of the game.

A few years the Panthers had one of the most dominant defenses in the league. With Josh Norman gone, things have changed recently. @Shenanigator was quick to point this out, when he said,

We have to shore up our defense.

Gators @tom74 vs A team has no name @boatsports90

Gators @tom74 knows he is in a battle this week, but has the utmost respect for his opponent. He even said this of his opponent,

He gets the most out of his players.

This week is going to come down to the wire and late in the fourth quarter, coach “A team has no name” @boatsports90 realizing this factor and said,

We have to dig deep.
