After 51 Years of Absence, Burnley Returns to European Competition

Burnley will play in European competition next season after a 51-year absence. The Clarets will take part in the Europa League.

A 1-1 draw between Everton and Southampton on Saturday (5/5/2018), ensuring Burnley finis minimal in the ranking of seven Premier League standings. Everton are now collecting 49 points in the ranking of eight is not possible to catch Burnley who has collected 54 points.

The last time Burnley appeared in European competition was when he qualified for the quarterfinals at the 1966/1967 Fairs Cup.

If finishing in seventh position, Burnley will start their fight in the Europa League next season from the second round of qualifying. This round will be held on July 26 (first leg) and 2 August (second leg).

For Burnley, qualifying for European competition is a remarkable achievement. Sean Dyche's team was newly returned to the Premier League last season and only finish in 16th place.
