MLB Odds: Nationals vs. Astros, World Series Game 1

The Houston Astros are –215 favorites at press time to win the World Series – making them the biggest MLB title favorites in over a decade. But nothing will come easy against the Washington Nationals (+175) and their impressive starting rotation.

Max Scherzer (2.92 regular season ERA) is expected to start for the Nats this Tuesday when they visit Gerrit Cole (2.50 ERA) and the Astros; Fox will have the first pitch at 8:08 PM ET, with Houston priced at –190.

Both of Tuesday’s likely starters have pitched lights-out during the postseason. Each has a team record of 3-0, with Cole (one earned run) driving the Under to a 3-0 record and Scherzer (four earned runs) nearly doing the same at 2-0-1.

Scherzer also struck out the side during an inning of relief against the Los Angeles Dodgers in their National League Division Series. Health has been kind to both clubs in this World Series.

The only concern of note is with Houston reliever Ryan Pressly (2.32 ERA); he had to leave Game 6 of their American League Championship Series versus the New York Yankees with discomfort in his right knee, but Pressly expects to be ready for Tuesday.

MLB Odds: Astros Host Nats for World Series Opener

The Houston Astros are –190 home favorites with a total of seven runs for Tuesday’s 2019 World Series opener against the Washington Nationals, beginning at 8:08 PM ET on Fox. Gerrit Cole (2.50 regular season ERA) is unofficially penciled in to start for Houston opposite Max Scherzer (2.92 ERA).

The Astros are also –215 favorites to win their second title in three years. Both teams are relatively healthy; Houston reliever Ryan Pressly (knee), who led the American League with 31 holds, expects to be ready after leaving Game 6 of their ALCS versus the New York Yankees on Saturday with a sore knee
