NBA Commissioner Dashes Dallas Maverick's Owners Plans for Tony RomosteemCreated with Sketch.

If nothing else, Mark Cuban knows how to generate headlines. With word out that former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will be hanging up his cleats to move into the announcing booth, Cuban - owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks - wanted to honor him.

Cuban planned for Romo to become a Maverick for the day, going through the pre-game festivities and even seeing some live-game action. Romo is an accomplished athlete outside of football, who is a scratch golfer and has been known to shoot the basketball around a bit.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver wasn't having any of it. Cuban was told that the NBA would not accept any contract given out to Romo, although the outspoken owner nearly tried it anyway. "I told him what I was going to do and said, 'Fine me if you don't like it.'"

The 6'2" Romo looked plenty small in pre-game warmups, unfortunately we won't be able to see how big his game could have been.
