Barcelona may have been trouble in finding a signing in a transfer market right now, but they thoroughly dominated the match day against Real Betis last night. The 2-0 scoreline is not reflecting the performance of Barcelona side as they have totally dominated the game. It has been Emotional start of the season for Players and fans in Camp Nou following the attack in Barcelona.
FIRST HALF
While everyone expecting a tough match for Barcelona, as departure of Neymar to PSG and Suarez and Iniesta was injured. The all eyes were on Messi. Valverde did make some Guardiola side like positioning for Messi, which leaded to excellent quick passes, and movements to find spaces and create chances. Barca absolutely dominated the pitch on the very first half. Messi had atleast five real chances to open the scoring for Balaugranas’s side. He hits the post three times in the entire game.
Finally, Barca took lead 35th minute os the game. Messi and Gerard Deulofeu had a quick exchange of passes in to the box, who had his pass deflected by Alin Tosca into the net. After a spectacular tackle by Javier Mascherano to save the equaliser, In 36th minute of game Deulofeu pressed a defender to recover the ball inside a box to lay it in for Sergi Roberto, who easily placed it into the net.
At half time. Catalans have been showing there rivals that its not going to be easy in any form to rivals.
SECOND HALF
In the second half, it was more about keeping the lead and avoiding the trouble, and it certainly worked for Valverde’s side. Real Betis tried to attack and had more possession in the other half of the game but they couldn’t put any threat to Ter Stegen on goal. Barcelona’s defence was strong, and Nelson Semedo proved his worth with quick feets and high pressings throughout the game.
Barca was not as spectacular as they were in first half, but that wasn’t really necessary. Tonight’s win will encourage the fans and players after they have lost Spanish super cup against Real madrid.
Although, it doesnt put the end to the topic that Barca desperately need a big signings to compete in Champions League.
