FANS AND DISCRIMINATORY CHANTS IN 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia has its good sides as well as its bad sides. This is typical when a large group of people from different countries with different backgrounds, different orientations and different personalities converge together in an enclosure such as a stadium.
During the match between Mexico and Germany, the bad side of the tournament reared it's ugly face through non other, than the Mexican fans.
As a result, FIFA mandated it's discriminatory committee to look into the allegations labeled against the Mexican fans and the committee discovered that the Mexican fans really hurled chants and insults against the Germans. Although FIFA did not really gave details as to what kind of insults and abuses were directed at the Germans, but the reports said it was suspected to be anti gay chants that the Mexican fans hurled. It further stated that the German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer took much of the insults and abuse that was directed at the German team.
Also it was reported that during the FIFA 2014 world Cup in Brazil, there were some Mexican fans who were constantly hurling abuses and insults towards any team it's country played against. However, the FIFA officials deliberately looked the other way at the time.
Mexico did win it's match against Germany to be among the first teams of the tournament to get their maximum 3 points, but winning it's match is not sufficient to warrant such shameful acts from its fans nor can it be overlooked any further as was previously done during the previous World Cup finals in Brazil. Additionally, Mexico is considered to be among the countries that will host the FIFA 2026 world cup, as such there is the need for it to be sanctioned.
Consequently, FIFA in its wisdom, has handed over the Mexican football Federation a fine of $10,400 for the unruly behavior and the discriminatory chants by the Mexican fans during the games against Germany.
The FIFA discriminatory committee handed over the fine on Wednesday.
Finally, FIFA said that if the chants continued during this tournament, stadium security are permitted to begin to identify, fish out and eventually remove any offending fan from the stands irrespective of gender, age or country.
