#MLS // Atlanta United vs Seattle Sounders FC

This weekend despite the fact that the MLS and in general any other football competition went unnoticed by the final of the FIFA World Cup (which incidentally I was a participant in Croatia winning even if any of the teams that won will be more that deserved).

Returning to the subject of the post, as mentioned, they faced this weekend part of the Eastern conference, the leading team of Atlanta United. While on the other side of the Western conference. The Seattle Sounders team, a team that has not done well this season stepping on the bottom of the table. A clear victory for Atlanta was expected but let's see what happened.

In general terms the first half was dominated by Atlanta United both in possession and completed passes, and in numbers of shares.

Even a play in the 28th minute of Atlanta where apart from almost ending in goal, there was a controversy that in my opinion would be a fairly clear decision for the referee of a penalty not sanctioned by a clear grab within the area.

On the minute 42-43, already finishing the first half, in an offensive play on the part of the visitors, where at sight it would not end at all, the play was submitted to review of the VAR apparently, a hand that deflects the ball , effectively maximum penalty in favor of Seattle that is executed by Nicolás Lodeiro, shot that manages to divert a bit the goalkeeper but it is not enough to avoid the goal, so Seattle without having done much goes to the break with the score in favor.

Starting the second half, in an offensive move from Atlanta. where already treading the 3/4 of the field, the player Gressel in the middle field, kicks the center that is received and nodded first by player Martinez who manages to beat the two defenders in body and thus achieve the tie, 1 a 1.

In the 63rd minute on a very hard tackle from the player Mc.Crary. That the second yellow is won and so Seattle is left with 10 men in the game.

And the clearest of the second half, in an action in favor of Atlanta, that after a first nod, ends at the post and with the ball still alive from the penalty point reach hit and is diverted by the goalkeeper. A match destined to be 1 to 1, where it is not a deserved result but we know that sometimes football is like that.

Este fin de semana a pesar de que la MLS y en general cualquier otra competición de fútbol pasó desapercibida por la final de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA (que por cierto yo era partícipe de que ganara Croacia aunque cualquier de los equipos que ganará estuviese más que merecido).

Volviendo al tema del post, como mencionaba se enfrentaron este fin de semana de parte de la conferencia Este, el equipo puntero de Atlanta United. Mientras que del otro lado de parte de la conferencia Oeste. El equipo de Seattle Sounders, equipo que no le ha ido muy bien esta temporada pisando los últimos puestos de la tabla. Se esperaba una clara victoria de Atlanta pero veamos que ocurrió.

En líneas generales el primer tiempo estuvo dominado por Atlanta United tanto en posesión como pases completados, y en números de acciones.

Inclusive una jugada en el minuto 28 de Atlanta donde aparte de casi terminar en gol, hubo una polémica que en mi opinión sería una decisión bastante clara para el arbitro de un penal no sancionado por un agarrón bastante claro dentro del área.

Sobre el minuto 42-43, terminando ya el primer tiempo, en una jugada ofensiva de parte de los visitantes, donde a simplemente vista no terminaría en nada, la jugada se sometió a revisión del VAR por lo visto, una mano que desvía el balón, efectivamente sanción máxima a favor de Seattle que es ejecutado por Nicolás Lodeiro, disparo que logra desviarlo un poco el portero pero no es suficiente para evitar el gol, así Seattle sin haber hecho mucho se va al descanso con el marcador a favor.

Iniciando el segundo tiempo, en una jugada ofensiva de Atlanta. donde ya pisando los 3/4 de del campo, el jugador Gressel por el medio campo, patea el centro que es recibido y cabeceado de primera por el jugador Martínez quien logra ganarle en cuerpo a los dos defensas y así lograr el empate, 1 a 1.

En el minuto 63 en una entrada muy dura de parte del jugador Mc.Crary. Que se gana la segunda amarilla y así Seattle se queda con 10 hombres en el juego.

Y la más clara del segundo tiempo, en una acción a favor de Atlanta, que tras un primer cabeceo, termina en el palo y con la pelota todavía viva desde el punto penal alcanzan a pegarle y es desviada por el portero. Un partido destinado a quedar 1 a 1, donde no es un resultado merecido pero sabemos que a veces el fútbol es así.
