Harry Kane similar to Real Madrid legend Raul, says Craig Bellamy

Craig Bellamy has likened Harry Kane to Real Madrid legend Raul after his match-winning performance in Tottenham's 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

The England international scored in both halves as Spurs kicked off their Champions League campaign, and ended their Wembley woes, with an impressive display against the Bundesliga club.

And, speaking on The Debate, Bellamy was bowled over by yet another fine performance from the Spurs frontman.

"When Kane first broke onto the scene he reminded me of Raul," the former Liverpool and Manchester City forward said.

"He's not lightning quick, he's very clever in his movement, he understands where he needs to be and he can create half a yard from anything.

"Raul is incredible and will always remain incredible but Kane has got similar traits to where he was, he's that type of forward.

"If Kane can stay on this path, he's the only current player who can threaten Alan Shearer's Premier League goalscoring record."

Danny Murphy joined Bellamy and Geoff Shreeves in the studio to react to what was only Tottenham's second win in their last 12 outings at Wembley.

And Murphy was full of praise for Kane's ability to adapt to the opposition and still provide such a potent threat in front of goal.

"Kane has strength and power, he knocks peoples about and doesn't mind a tussle, he's not just about having the ball to feet," he added.

"He doesn't mind getting over people and winning headers or having a fight. When you're on the back foot you can play ball up to him.

"I remember when he was playing at Leicester and he played as a number 10, where he was good because he's got those little half turns and he's not a bad passer."

Tottenham 3-1 Borussia Dortmund: Harry Kane scores twice in Champions League opener

Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham brushed aside their Wembley curse and opened their Champions League group campaign with a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

The England striker finished off the second of two swift counter-attacks in the first half, firing home at the near post in similar fashion to Heung-Min Son's opener after just four minutes.

Andriy Yarmolenko had equalised in a first half dominated by the Bundesliga side, who had two goals ruled out for offside in the game - one for Christian Pulisic and the other for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But Kane put the game beyond them on 60 minutes when he finished off a neat move that involved Christian Eriksen and Ben Davies, before Spurs finished the game with 10 men following Jan Vertonghen's second bookable offence.

Team news
Mauricio Pochettino made three changes following Tottenham’s win at Everton as summer signing Serge Aurier made his debut, Mousa Dembele started in midfield and Son Heung-min replaced the suspended Dele Alli.Andriy Yarmolenko made his full Borussia Dortmund debut and was one of five changes as Omer Toprak and Jeremy Toljan were drafted in an injury-plagued defence. Mahmoud Dahoud and Shinji Kagawa got the nod in midfield.
Tottenham were poor in Europe at Wembley last season, winning just one of their Champions League group games, and they appeared off the pace again despite Son scoring inside four minutes.

The South Korean was put through by Kane down the left-hand side and beat Roman Burki from an acute angle inside the near post.

Dortmund were unfazed and looked dangerous throughout, with summer signing Yarmolenko curling home an equaliser seven minutes later following a neat one-two with Shinji Kagawa.

Son celebrates putting Spurs ahead

Kane barraged his way past two Dortmund defenders to smash his side back in front, but the Bundesliga side had further chances through the lively Pulisic, who had a goal ruled out for offside on the stroke of half-time.

Dortmund had the ball in the net again on 57 minutes and had cause to complain when Aubameyang's crisp volley was incorrectly ruled chalked off.

But Spurs looked more in control in the second half and Christian Eriksen grew into the game, setting up Kane on the hour-mark with his 20th assist of 2017.

Harry Kane double overcame a strong Dortmund side at Wembley

Tottenham's attacking trio of Eriksen, Son and Kane caused the Dortmund defence plenty of problems all evening but it was the England striker who made the match-winning contribution. He sent Son scampering away down the left for the opening goal before smashing a double past Roman Burki to seal victory.

What's next?

Having got their Champions League campaign off to the perfect start, Tottenham go in search of their first league victory at their temporary home when Swansea City head to Wembley for the late kick-off on Saturday.
