RE: Super Bowl 52 - New England Patriots & Philadelphia Eagles - What To Watch For & Prediction from a Coach
Since we're calling out the refs, I would throw several plays out there. I agree there was massive holding by BOTH Offensive Lines, on passing and running plays. I think the league preference was to have a high scoring game.
The Eagles received two touchdown calls in their favor:
- TD reception at back of end zone - receiver dragged left foot out of bounds - receiver did not have ball control while in bounds. Ref didn't explain this one.
- TD reception and diving across goal line - receiver caught ball and dove for goal line breaking goal line plane and then ball hit ground, pop out of hands, up in air and then caught again. I don't think it was a completion of the catch. Ref called that after reception the receiver was now a runner and scored. I call B.S. on that call because he just dove and never 'became' a runner - one step and leap for goal does not 'make' a runner.
The refs had nothing to do with the timid tackling by the Patriots defense. I thought I was watching a bullfight the way the Patriots defense failed to stop running backs and receivers. Ole, Ole, just letting them run by. . . Ole.
YESSIR, im happy i was not the only one thinking that was kinda a big deal!
@GOLDKEY, WTH was belichick doing with Malcolm Butler!!! WOW talk about arrogance!
