GRATITUDEDAY 47: GERMANY STILL IN THE WORLD CUP - NEVER GIVE UP

The FIFA 2018 world cup in Russia is heating up as more teams are scoring to qualify for the 16 nation knockout stage.

Nigeria my dear country still has a chance at the game as they are yet to play their final group stage match against Argentina on Tuesday.

In that group Iceland and Argentina both still have 1 point each from the draw match against each other, while Nigeria has 3 points and Croatia toping the group with 6 points after defeating Nigeria and Argentina.

Very exciting matches to watch in the world cup.

It would have been a very sad ending for Germany the defending champions yesterday as Sweden had the first chance at goal before they equalised. After bagging a red card at the 80th minute, it seemed all hope was lost and they were going to be defending the cup at home after the first group stage.

They never stop believing that things would change and from then on, their offensive got even better which earned them a free kick just at the nick of time. A superlative kick that changed their fate in the competition.

To me, there was a lesson to be learnt from the match. To never give up or throw in the towel when things seems dark and unyielding. Keep pressing on and fight, a change might just come at the end.

Even with one man down, they won the match and are looking forward with high hopes to their next match with Korea.

I am grateful that Germany is still in the game with 3 points. It would be disastrous not to be at the second round to defend their title.
