Officially : Barcelona announce the signing of Nelson Semedo from Benfica !

Barcelona have unveiled new signing Nelson Semedo at the Nou Camp after securing the £30m signing of the Benfica youngster.
The Catalan giants officially confirmed the move for the 23-year-old right-back on Friday after the young defender successfully completed a medical and signed a five-year deal.

He was a key player in Benfica’s treble-winning campaign and in two seasons has played 63 games, scoring two goals in the Portuguese League and one more in the Champions League.
At a height of 180cm, Semedo is an offensive full-back with superb physical attributes and he will be the ninth Portuguese to defend the Barça shirt.

So what do we know about Nélson Semedo? Born November 16, 1993 in Lisbon (Portugal), he has been one of the brightest youngsters at Benfica.

The right-back has progressed quickly to the highest level, both with his club and the Portuguese national side, who he represented at the last Confederations Cup.

The 23-year-old admits he was excited by Barca’s interest: “Everybody wants to play at Barça, I’m no exception. I was very excited by the news, but I also understand the responsibility.

“I am very happy and looking forward to starting with the team.”
