Want To Keep Your Rifle Ultralight? Buy This - Faxon 16" 5.56 Pencil Barrel
If you're trying to achieve ultralight weight on your AR15 then this barrel is the one you want to buy. It's affordable and well made. It has a mid length gas port and will take 223 as well as 5.56 caliber rounds.
The gas block section is .625" diameter so you'll need a tighter diameter gas block to match. This is instead of the more standard .750" diameter.
Holy cow it saves weight though. Your AR will feel like a toy after installing one of these. Make sure to keep your handguard light weight as well and it will feel like a dream to hold and shoot all day long.
I recommend the BCM KMR Alpha rails to match. 13" or 15" will look great with this 16" barrel popping out the end.
