in #sports7 years ago (edited)

Want a chance to win 25 Steem - or more.?
Want bragging rights to say "I called it".?
Want to check out a new Steemian trying to get noticed.?
Or maybe you just want to participate in a cool contest and make a few bucks.?
Regardless of why your here, here's how it works and what you need to do:

How To Win:

There are three actual prize pools and a bonus pool for my followers. Additionally, there are two different ways you can win, and the same person could theoretically win all four prizes.

The First way to "Get In" requires a 1 Steem "Bet" and makes you eligible to win the Grand prize and to potentially receive all prizes being offered.

The second way to "Get In" is open anyone who "Wants In" but does not place a "Bet". This makes you eligible to win prize #2, prize #3, and possibly prize #4 if you are one of my followers.

The Contest And The Payout:

  1. 25 Steem Grand Prize, Plus 50% Of Steem Bets, Plus 50% Of Rewards: Given to whoever picks the winner, the round, and comes closest to the actual time the fight ends.
  2. 10 Steem Prize, Plus 25% Of Steem Bets, Plus 25% Of Rewards: Given in addition to the grand prize if the exact round and time is chosen.
  3. 5 Steem Prize, Plus 10% Of Steem Bets, Plus 10% Of Rewards: Given to whoever picks the winner, the round, and comes closest to the actual time the fight ends, but chooses not to place the 1 Steem bet. (same rules apply - must follow, upvote, and resteem post)
  4. 5 Steem Prize, Plus 5% Of Steem Bets, Plus 5% Of Rewards: Will be given in addition to any above prize if the winner is one of my followers at the time this is posted.

The rules are simple:

Make your choice on who will win, how the fight will end, what round, and the time in that round you think it will happen. Using the format/examples explained below, post your pick into the comments , upvote it, and resteem the post.
If you are placing a bet or bets, send them to @drdave - If you are placing more than one bet, use separate comment threads for your picks. Last but not least, you have to go to my blog and actually read one of my posts - no upvote required unless you think it is deserved...

That's it, it's that simple - who knows, you just might win.

Examples:

The Money Line

  • Choose either Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor to win the fight.
  • Choose what round you think the fight will end.
  • Choose the minute and second you think that round will end.
    Example: Mayweather/round4/1:38

Method Of Victory Unanimous Decision/Split Decision/Majority Decision

  • Choose either Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor to win the fight.
  • Choose Unanimous Decision, Split Decision, or Majority Decision.
  • Choose judges scorecard.
    Example: McGregor/split/10-9,10-9,9-10

Draw
A draw can occur when either two of the judges rule the contest a draw, or it can happen when one judge scores the bout for one fighter, another judge scores it for the other fighter, and the third rules it a draw. However unlikely this is to happen, it should be included.
Example: Draw/10-9,9-10,9-9

Explaining The Scores:

The scoring system used in professional boxing is called the "10 point must system".
Here are a few of the basics for scoring a round:

  • Judges score based on a 10 point scale - most rounds will end scored 10-9, with the more dominant fighter receiving 10 points, and the other receiving 9.
  • If a fighter is knocked down, he looses a point. If a fighter is knocked down twice, he loses two points. If both fighters are knocked down, the knockdowns negate each other.
  • If a fighter completely dominates a round but doesn’t score a knockdown, judges can still score that round 10-8, however it is uncommon
  • If a judge scores a round completely even, both fighters receive 10 points.
  • If a referee sees fit, he can take away a point or two for an intentional foul, He can do the same for unintentional ones, after giving at least 1 warning.

The plagiarism bot flagged me for having 5 bullet points here explaining the boxing scoring system -Sorry everyone, I should have used "my own written version" from the start. if interested, check out the site and see why I was flagged - like I said in my comment "context matters"...

Qualifier

I am having this contest for a couple different reasons...
First of all, I really like boxing and would most likely take part if I saw someone else doing it. Second and definitely more important, to get noticed by more people on Steemit, to increase my reputation, and if it is successful, to have a financial head start on a second contest already in the works. That being said, in the event there is none or very little participation in this contest - I reserve the right to make adjustments to the grand prize pool only based on that number - everything else stays the same... Just a heads up, my next contest will be politically oriented - doing research for it now...

Thank You...

Wow the time is hard to judge. I guess I'll randomly say 2:40. Fun contest!

Thanks & good luck...

Thanks for taking part in my contest - I appreciate your participation...

And thank you so much for the payout!

Nearly everything you do is of no importance, but it is important that you do it.
