Two Big Boxing Matches Happening This Weekend!
This weekend there are two world title fights happening, both between undefeated fighters.
Gennaday Golovkin vs Kell Brook
The main even is undefeated middleweight champ Gennady “GGG” Golovkin taking on welterweight champion Kell Brook. There are plenty of good fights to be made with Golovkin but currently he is the most avoided boxer in the world. So since no one else was willing to step up to the plate, Kell Brook comes in and agrees to fight even though this means he is moving up two weight classes.
My prediction is that GGG will finish Brook around the 8th round, after adjusting to Brook’s initial speed. Don’t sleep on Brook though, even though he is smaller he will actually be the best name on GGG’s resume as far as skill and talent go. It will be a fun fight to watch!
Roman Gonzalez vs Carlos Cuadras
Roman “Chocolatito”Gonzalez is probably my favorite boxer in the game right now. IMO he is number one pound for pound, due to his accomplishments. He was undeafeated as an amatuer, undefeated as a pro(45-0), never been knocked down in a match, and won consecutive world titles at 105, 108, and 112 pound. He is still only 29 years old as well. He is taking on 115 pound champion Carlos Cuadras, and if Gonazalez wins, he will be the first Nicaraguan boxer to win world titles in four weight classes.(Hall of Famer Alexis Arguello won three).
This fight will be very tough for Chocolatito but I think he will edge out Cuadras and win a close but unanimous decision. He is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport today and I think he will be the biggest star to fight in the lower weight classes, which usually aren’t popular with mainstream fans.
I for one am stoked for these fights and can’t wait for Saturday to get here!
I haven't watched a good fight in years. Back during the Spinks era I got disillusioned with the idiocy going on and pretty much quit watching. There were a lot of shenanigans going on at the time, and I never bothered to check into it again.
you should check it out
it's sure shaping up to be a good fight! they're both really exciting fighters / in spite of the corruption
YES!! Awesome post. Golovkin will have it over Brook no drama at all. He is easily the most dangerous Boxer in the sport right now. The fact that most boxers are dodging bouts with him says it all. Mad respect to Kell Brook for signing the card though. I feel GGG will body him in less than 8 rounds though, the dude has waaay too much power in his punches (hence why nearly all of his fights are won by K.O) and he also has the speed to back it. Not to mention his ability to stay focused and the heart to match. This will be a great fight though and I'm looking forward to seeing Golovkin come out on top. Maybe after this victory Canelo Alvarez will grow a set and step up to the plate. Again, awesome post. Up voted and followed.
