8th time Olympic Gold medalist Usain Bolt runs his final race in the Caribbean
We would miss him, we would miss him, we would miss him and @steemsports Steemit would miss him. 8th time Olympic Gold medalist Usain Bolt announce his retirement from the sports of athletics after completing his triple gold medal tally at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

On Saturday 10, 2017 mark an emotional final race in Jamaica for the 100 meter record holder as he gave a blistering performance in that event to a sold-out stadium winning in 10.03. It was scenes of joy, excitement and sadness as many fans wished he would stay on longer.

Here is a snapshot of some of his achievement in his illustrious career
- 2002 World Junior Championship, 200m 1st 20.61
- Jamaican High School Championships, Bolt re-wrote the previous records in the 200m and 400m completing both events in 20.25 & 45.25 seconds respectively
- 2007 World Championship, Bolt covered 200m distance in 19.96
- Beijing Summer Olympics 2008, 100m final completing the race in a mere 9.69 seconds and became a world-renowned icon. 200m final, new Olympic record of 19.30 seconds. Won a third gold medal at 2008 Olympics in 4X 100m relay which was recently thrown out (Probably do a post on this in the future)
- 2009 Berlin World Championships, world records in both 100m and 200m events. 100m race in 9.58 seconds and 200m in 19.19 seconds.
- 2011 World Championships in Deagu, Bolt won 200m in 19.40 seconds and partnered with his Jamaican team mates to set a world record of 37.04 seconds in the 4X 100m relay
- 2012 Summer Olympics, created history to become the first man to successfully defend the both 100m and 200m Olympic titles

After completing his final race on home soil Bolt had this to say to fans "It was my honor to really put the sports of track and field at the top and to continue to dominate, I’ll try my best even when I hang up my spikes, to continue to push track and field in any way possible" The world would certainly miss this legend. Definitely the best runner by far of his generation. Don't think anyone else even comes close to matching him.
Will be a sad day in athletics when he retires but age catches up with all of us.
