Everyone Grab a Broom....Golden State Just Swept the Spurs

in #sports7 years ago

Seems like the Spurs needed Kawhi Leonard after all.

The best chance the Spurs had to give the Warriors their first playoff defeat was Game 1 of this Series before Kawhi Leonard went down with his ankle injury.  Since Kawhi's absence, the Warriors, mainly Durant, Curry, and Draymond, have had no problem outscoring the Spurs led by Aldridge and Manu Ginobili.

Curry was definitely in the zone from the start of the game with all of the fantastic shots he made tonight (tough layup, 1st 3-pointer, and finger roll).  Durant and Draymond were on fire as well even as they teamed up on an amazing alley oop and dunk on a fast break.  For the Spurs, Ginobili did his best to step up as the lead scorer of the night and force a Game 5 for this Series, but it just was not enough.  However, Ginobili did have some good plays like this contested layup.

For me, the best play of the night was when Durant chased down and blocked a fast break layup in similar fashion to LeBron's chase downs.  With that said, it will be interesting to see Durant and LeBron on both sides of the court during the NBA Finals.

Sidenote:  I'm really going to miss Manu Ginobili if this is his last game.

I know he is getting up in age (currently 39), but he looks as if he still has steam in his engine.  We will see over the summer what his decision will be.  Scott van Pelt's description of Ginobili's career was right on the money.
