Young talent coming up in MMA: Austin Vanderford

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with an up and coming prospect in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. He fights on December 16 at Victory Fighting Championships VFC 59 in Omaha, NE. As an older martial artist, I tend to look up to the younger guys making their way not only in the sport of MMA, but as martial artists themselves.

Austin Vanderford is one of those guys, he sports a 3-0 record and was undefeated as an amateur as well. He trains out of Oregon in a fight camp that I think needs a name with all the guys he trains with. Chael Sonnen, Ed Herman, and Paige VanZant to name a few.

The guy has an impressive wrestling background too but when folks mention his name, they seem to want to add that he's VanZant's boyfriend like it overshadows his talent. He didn't seem to mind, nor should he because as he said; "she's super hot."
