Actually, it's not so much a Howa review, but rather, an opportunity to show you how well this platform performs under less-than-ideal conditions. For that, we decided to run through an entire magazine of "cheap, Russian" Tulammo through the Howa HCR, and see what kind of accuracy we could get.
Without a single failure to fire or failure to eject, the Howa Chassis Rifle performed admirably. I'm also happy with the accuracy, considering the steel-cased Tulammo and the fact that I didn't take too much time in setting up each shot. Under favorable conditions -- brass, match-grade ammo and patience -- you will have amazing results with every shot fired.
Howa Chassis Rifles, and Howa rifles in general, are incredibly undervalued and underrated. For what you pay, an amateur shooter on a budget can quickly close the accuracy gap. The rest is up to the shooter.
Pound for pound, you will simply not find a better shooting platform than Howa bolt-action rifles. These Japanese rifles are pure quality, expertly crafted by the Howa manufacturing team in Aichi Prefecture.
