Denver Broncos Retain WR #88 Thomas. Say it ain't so Elway....

in #sports7 years ago

New Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum will have at least one Pro Bowl wide receiver to throw to this season, and in my opinion this is not a smart move by the Denver Broncos because this player had under performed his value for our team the last two years. Granted he didn't have the best QB to get him the ball but his amount of drops in crucial situations was excessive to say the least.

The Broncos have picked up Demarius Thomas’ $4 million option for 2018. That means the receiver will be back at a base salary of $8.5 million this fall. Now many of you know from my past videos that I feel like Thomas is way overrated and rarely comes up with the game breaking play we need at the most critical times.

Denver will have another decision to make on Thomas when he’s due a base salary of $14 million in 2019. The Broncos could release him next offseason for a net cap savings of $15.3 million. It does no good to discuss this at this point because whats done is done for this year. Now with new proven talent at the QB spot, all eyes will be on Thomas and he will have to have a great year to EARN the rest of that paycheck.

The 30-year-old receiver has hauled in 629 receptions for 8,653 yards and 57 touchdowns since being selected by Denver in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. The five-time Pro Bowler ranks second on the team’s all-time receiving list, trailing only Rod Smith (11,389 yards).

The Broncos are also expected to bring back receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who is set to earn $8.25 million this season. Despite rumors that Sanders might be on the trade block, the 30-year-old receiver will likely stay in Denver.

That means Keenum should have two Pro Bowlers to throw to this year. If Keenum can post the same kind of numbers he did in 2017, the Broncos’ passing attack should be much-improved this season.

No matter what the consequences will be but this time broncos is going to win i am damm sure last time we came from the down momentum but it will be up this time

that's a lot of fees there for that player but if he perform well that's all good

It is great to get your insights before the season starts. Can't wait regardless of this decision!

Two Pro-bowlers to launch and zing to will make for a better more interesting year no doubt. I love that photo. It says it all.

Demarius Thomas was a disappointment in my FF league last year. Hopefully he picks it up this season.

We need an inspirational video on cryptos Broncnutz!
