It’s Official: Anthony Davis is Joining Lebron James
After weeks of speculation, it’s finally official. Anthony Davis and Lebron James will finally be in the same team. But sorry, Lakers fans, it’s not what you’re thinking.
Anthony Davis and Klutch Sports have finally reached an agreement that allows them to represent the All-Star forward this coming 2019 season. In his first 7 seasons, the Pelicans’ franchise star was managed by Thad Foucher. He helped Davis negotiate a 5 year, $127 million contract with New Orleans in 2015.
Klutch Sports is best known for handling LeBron James. With Davis signing with Klutch, he joins an impressive cast of clients for the sports agency. Currently, Klutch Sports also represents James’ teammate Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Wizards’ star John Wall, and reigning Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons.
Given the links that LeBron has with Klutch, Davis’ will surely be intrigued with the possibility of teaming up with James with the Lakers. However, that scenario might be a pipe dream as Davis’ contract is set to end in the summer of 2021. And by that time, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball are about to get paid. The only possible scenario for the Lakers to get Davis is to trade for him, but that’ll be hard to do given AD’s current value.
Still, it will be an interesting storyline come the NBA season. Fans are set to find out whether Davis’ move was strictly a business decision or that it has some basketball reasons to it.
