DFS DRAWING BOARD - NFL Week 10 - Running Backs

in #sports6 years ago

We are rolling right into the RB position article, my favorite position for Week 10.  If you haven't already, please take a moment to check out and comment on this weeks QB article and TE article.  We have some high priced studs in great matchups again this week along with a number of other mid-tier guys that are arguably in better spots.  It was tough sledding trying to narrow down a QB for Week 10 but I think with how the games are projected this weekend, RB points should be plenty.  Don't mix this up though, the following plays are some of my favorite for Week 10.  I try to include a mixture of all pricing.  You can't go wrong playing the likes of Gurley, Kamara, and Hunt this weekend as all are in great spots, heavy favorites, and should see plenty of opportunity, usage, and action.

Last week I highlighted Hunt, Peterson, and the Cleveland Browns backfield.  Outside of Peterson's disappointing day, the plays were some of the best this season.  Hunt went off and whether you played Chubb or Johnson, you were likely happy.

Each week we take a step back to review the upcoming weeks matchups and crunch the numbers to develop a series of position specific articles related to top daily fantasy sports plays. Whether you are playing on FanDuel, DrafKings, or even configuring your season long NFL lineups, these articles should serve as a reference tool and helpful guide to choosing the best players. I've shortened these articles to give you only the necessities and bottom-line reasoning as to my top choices. This is a no bullshi*t article and by that I mean the players and plays I suggest are those that I will be using in my personal lineups. Nothing is excluded. We intend to win. The goal is to make great lineups, win money, and share our success stories. If you are new to my blog or daily fantasy sports in general, I encourage you to check out my DFS Introduction post which provides some general context on what DFS is and how to play. Spoiler alert, if you like playing fantasy sports and winning money, DFS is the platform for you. With that being said, here are my top plays at the running back position for Week 10. Enjoy, upvote, and comment on your weekly outlook.

RUNNING BACKS

Melvin Gordon - LA Chargers

$8,900 / at OAK / LAC - 10

One of my favorite top-tier priced backs on the main slate this weekend is Melvin Gordon.  Gordon has been great all year and is coming off a hot, 113 yard, 1 TD performance in Seattle.  The vegas line on this game has the Chargers favored by 10 or more points which should eventually favor the run game in terms of game flow.  Regardless, Oakland is a mess right now and with an anemic offense and poor defense, Melvin Gordon should have no problem racking up yards and scores in this game.   Oakland is surrendering 4.8 yards per carry this season to go along with an average of 130 rushing yards against average and over 29 DK fantasy points to the RB position.  The matchup is great, game flow should favor the running game, and Gordon is an elite back in his own regard.  In my opinion, he is as safe as they come and should have no problem adding a big point total to your DFS lineup this weekend.

Kareem Hunt - Kansas City Chiefs

$9,000 / vs. ARI / KC - 16.5

I've been playing Kareem Hunt for a few weeks not and he hasn't disappointed.  This week he again checks all the boxes.  Not only has Hunt been performing quite well over the last several weeks but he gets to continue that trend against a weak Arizona Cardinals defense at home.  Arizona currently ranks as the 2nd easiest matchup for RBs on the season, giving up over 32 DK points per game to the position with over 132 yards per game rushing.   Hunt on the other hand is averaging around 18 total touches per game with a 4.5 yard per carry average and has ample opportunity to score.   There is little doubt in my mind that Kansas City beats up on Arizona this week at home which and this game quickly should turn into a no-contest.  Vegas has them favored by a massive 16.5 points.  That should mean the Chiefs go run heavy a little earlier and a little more than usual on Sunday which only adds more value to Hunt.

Tevin Coleman - Atlanta Falcons

$7,300 / at CLE / CLE + 5.5

Running backs vs. Cleveland.  Just play them.  Thats been my thing over the last couple of weeks and it hasn't disappointed.   Take for example Hunt last week and Conner the week before.  Both crushed against the Browns who now rank as the 4th easiest defense against the RB position giving up over 116 yards a game.  Coleman has been up and down this year even with Freeman landing on the IR.  The most frustrating thing is that Ito Smith keeps stealing goal line work and TDs from him.  Regardless, the matchup is too great this week against Cleveland and Coleman stands out as a cheaper alternative to most of the elite backs.  The Falcons play at home in a dome, so I suspect the cold weather in Cleveland will force them to put the ball on the ground more often than usual.  Coleman typically managers anywhere from 15-20 touches a game and with a solid lead, I think he can hit the upper 20 or more in terms of touches this weekend.   I have a lot of faith in him against the Browns and will be looking to get him in most of my lineups.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Alvin Kamara - $8,800 - Saints

  • Saints are in a great spot this weekend in Cincinnati.  They are decent favorites and I believe this game turns into a Kamara/Ingram game quickly.  Cincinnati has been a favorable defensive matchup for RBs all season.

Aaron Jones - $6,500 - Packers

  • Playing at home this weekend, against a weak defensive, and as a heavy favorite, I think Jones is in a great spot against Miami.  Should the game go as expected, Green Bay will be up large and game flow should favor the run game and Jones.

Adrian Peterson - $6,800 - Redskins

  • Peterson was a big disappointment last week in an elite matchup.  He again is in a great matchup this weekend visiting Tampa Bay.  Although Washington is an underdog on the road, Tampa has been a great matchup all season for offensives.

Dion Lewis - $5,800 - Titans

  • Seems to taking a larger share of the backfield duties each week.  Lewis had 20+ touches last week and should see a similar workload if not more this week vs. the Patriots.

That wrap up the RB position for Week 10.  Please like, comment, and share your thoughts on the position for this weekend.  As always, good luck out there and lets win some money!
