Arsenal - The economy and academy (not in depth!!)steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi!

I thought I would start posting about Arsenal, as I guess there are a few Arsenal fans here, and it would be great fun to have some discussions going since we are going through a rough time...

Because of the great Thierry Henry I became an Arsenal fan many years ago. A few years later they won the league unbeaten. Still one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of soccer.

I will start writing a little bit about the economy and academy of Arsenal, and will then move on to more specific things later on.

The economy of Arsenal

Arsenal is a beautiful club and it is a club not hated by many. I believe this is because of the way it is being runned. Arsenal is being runned as a business. A little to much, but it is a healthy business. Arsenal is not known for spending huge amount of money on players unless they have that amount in the bank. They might sell a player for 30 million pounds and buy a new one for 15 millions pounds. Compared to PSG, Chelsea, United, City etc, they might sell a player for 15 millions pounds and buy one for 50 millions pounds. Arsenal will never spend more money than they have generated, which i like about them. But...Sometimes you have to! You at least have to spend the money you have! I think Arsenal will do this in the summer transfer. The pressure on the board, Wenger etc is getting too intense.

The academy of Arsenal

Arsenal have been known for having a very young squad, and they did have for many years. Now time has changed, and the squad is not that young. Players like Giroud, Mertesacker, Cech, Monreal, Koscielny, Cazorla are raising the average age of the team. I believe there is a great balance now. Young players like Iwobi, Bellerin, Martinez, Jeff Reine Adelaide etc seem to have a lot of quality. Players who have been developed thorugh our academy. Bellerin was bought from Barcelona when he was very young, but had all his senior years at Arsenal.
Now it seems like Arsenal wants to improve the academy even more.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: "Our future is going to be built around how well we develop our young players and bring them through to our first team"

Hale End as it is called are currently going through a major development, which will make the academy one of the finest. I think this is a great way to develop our young players, but also important in terms of signing very young players. Young promosing players wants the best facilities to improve their game, and soon we can give them that.

Players I think are interesting players from our academy: Crowley, Jeff Reine Adelaide, Vlad Dragomir, Bielik and Zelalem.

We haven't proceeded to the quarter finals in Champions League for a long time, we haven't won the league since we went unbeaten in 03-04. A few FA cups have been won, but that is not enough for a club like Arsenal. Maybe the board think so, but I don't!

I think Arsenal have a promosing future if we can get in the top four this year, secure Champions League, and then splash some money in the coming transfer window.
