Shaq deal is real Liverpool to complete third summer signing with ace set for medical

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri with the Stoke City winger set for a medical.

Shaqiri, the Switzerland international, made his intention to leave Stoke clear following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.

The Reds have a deal in place to sign the 26-year-old, having triggered the £13.5million release clause in his contract at the bet365 Stadium.

And now, according to the Liverpool Echo , Shaqiri will undergo a medical ahead of completing his transfer to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Shaqiri , who was part of Switzerland’s squad at this summer’s World Cup, is being brought in to provide depth in Klopp’s squad, while his status as a dead-ball specialist further appeals to the Liverpool manager.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter winger has had offers from across Europe, but his heart is said to be set on a move to Merseyside this summer.

When the deal for Shaqiri is completed, he will become Liverpool’s third signing of the summer after midfielders Fabinho and Naby Keita , who has finally moved to Anfield after a deal was agreed between the Reds and RB Leipzig for his transfer this time last year.
