Adriano, The Emperor

Hello friends of Steemit, especially to those passionate about football and who read my Post next, I hope you are well and that all your investments continue to grow. In this opportunity I bring you a lamentable story of a great player who could have had a longer and great career.

I speak to you of the great Adriano Leite Ribeiro better known as The Emperor born on February 17, 1982, a great Brazilian player who a phone call changed his life completely.

His debut was in 2000 with Flamengo, and a year later he was signed by Inter Milan for a sum of 7 million Euros. With only 18 years old he made a great appearance in a match for the Bernabeú Trophy against the local team Real Madrid, there he scored a great goal to Casillas, product of a powerful shot unatajable for the defender.

After that great appearance, the Italian press called him "El Nuevo Ronaldo" (The New Ronaldo) and it was at Inter where he was named "El Emperador" (The Emperor), with his height of 1.8 meters and more than 80 kilograms of weight, including his powerful left-foot shot, this player was destined to the greatness and glory of Italian football.

The "Pupi Zanetti" who was his captain and team-mate, was very concerned about Adriano, as he came from the Brazilian favelas where people suffer a lot of problems, he feared that the player would get involved in one of them and therefore hinder his career.

Adriano had a father who kept a close eye on him, watched him and kept him at bay in his career. After great seasons with Inter in 2007, one night he received a phone call that would change everything. He was called from Brazil to give him the tragic news that his father had passed away.

Immediately he began to cry and threw the phone away, shouting that it couldn't be possible. Zanetti and Moratti, both Inter players, welcomed him as a brother to console him. Some time later Adriano continued playing and scoring goals, which were always dedicated to his father pointing towards the sky.

Although the player always smiled he was not the same anymore, in the face they could see his sadness for the departure of his father. In the evenings Zanetti and the Colombian Ivan Ramiro Cordoba encouraged him by telling him that he was a mixture between Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic or even that he could be better than the two together. In spite of so much support the player could not get out of the depression because of his father's departure.

His career gradually faded when he joined Rome in 2010, where he scored only 3 goals in 19 games. Later he returned to Brazil between 2011 and 2015 played for Corinthians and Atlético Paranaense, until in 2016 after a brief stay at Miami United F.C in the United States where he officially retired from soccer.

Despite his short career Adriano Leite is remembered as one of the most fearsome strikers, thanks to his powerful left foot, his physical power and speed with the ball in his feet. For his fans he is and will always be "The Emperor".
