What a beautiful car it was! I knew a guy who drive both cars of that time -Ford Escort Cosworth Group N and A, and Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 6. He said once, feeling with Ford was brutal but you could never knew what the rear of the car would do.

Car was just brutal. In comparison with Ford, Mitsubishi was something like a trained dog. You push it in one direction and that's it.

Ford Escort Cosworth Group A was the car before WRC era. So the could be prepared from any workshop in the world just using a FIA homologation book.

I know very good that in Italy there were several workshops who did this cars with fair prices.

Knowing that Group A8 was similar with today's WRC, prices were much smaller. You could buy A8 car for probably half a price of today's WRC car.

But motorsport is a bubble anyway where companies see potential rich boys who want an adrenaline rush and they will buy themselves an expensive toy for any money.

That's why rally and racing cars are that expensive. All that crap about development of the car is nonsense. There's an engine tuner called Pipo in France that will make yo uso powerful engine for 25000€ (for manufacturer) so cut the crap, manufacturers.

To conclude, Ford Escort Cosworth was a great car with power around 420bhp and very nervous rear at some point of the rally.
