The club plays its home game at Ennio Tardini Stadium with a capacity of 29,050 spectators. Their uniforms are blue-yellow, so they are nicknamed Gialloblu (blue-yellow).

Founded in 1913 under the name Verdi FC, the club was later renamed Parma FC at the end of the year. Until the 1980s Parma only played in Serie B and C and even once became a semi-professional team.
In 1990 for the first time Parma entered Serie A under the care of Nevio Scala. Under Scala, Parma became a strong team and won the UEFA Cup title (94/95), Cup Winners (92/93), European Super Cup (93), and Italian Cup (91/92). Some of their players in the 1990s included Fabio Cannavaro, Gianfranco Zola, Faustino Asprilla, Dino Baggio, Hernan Crespo, Enrico Chiesa, and Diego Fuser.
In 2005 after experiencing financial problems, the club was announced to have been bought by Lorenzo Sanz and renamed Parma Football Club, but this purchase was never completed so until now Parma is still under the stewardship.
The 2014-2015 season becomes a tough season for Parma, they are based on Serie A standings and are on the verge of bankruptcy. Some of their flagship players were forced to sell due to not being able to pay salaries.
