Harry Kane became the first player to score nine goals in nine premieres in the Champions League after scoring a goal when Tottenham drew 2-2 against Juventus in Turin.

The 24-year-old made his first team goal before Christian Eriksen sealed the English side for a valuable draw in the first leg of the last 16, after Gonzalo Higuain set up a brace that had brought Juve 2-0 up.

Kane has scored nine goals in the same number of matches, beating previous records held by Ronaldinho, Simone Inzaghi, Didier Drogba and Diego Costa, who scored eight goals in nine premieres.

The goal also makes Kane now level with former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, as England player scored seven goals in a season, recorded in the 08/09 season.

Juventus' unbeaten record against English clubs is also increasingly sharp, as it lasts up to six Champions League matches, but last night's draw leaves them for the first time failing to secure victory in Europe's highest caste competition after winning two or more goals previously.

The last time such a phenomenon occurred in April 1999, at which time Manchester United, who eventually became champions, got up from behind 0-2 before finally winning 3-2 at Delle Alpi.
