College athletics in general is a cesspool, and expanding the DNA playoffs to 12 teams next year is simply driven by $$$$.

Nevertheless, it will be an improvement over the current system, where today the mandarins that run the DNA decided to leave FSU out of the playoffs, the first time an undefeated Power 5 conference team has been left out. FSU did everything right to earn a slot and got screwed.

It's bullshit.

But that's a serious problem with so few teams in the playoffs. The top few teams left out are frequently serious contenders.

But when you get down around 10-12, they're not. They're good teams, but they're not going to win. There'll still be complaining among teams at that level about not getting selected, but they're not really complaining about being deprived of a legitimate shot at the national championship.
