I have not had the opportunity to watch much NBA so far this season. The Lakers have been getting a lot of early buzz because of the addition of Lebron James. There are several storylines that are emerging. Many of them bear watching.

Freeze-Town

One I am particularly interested in is the Minnesota Timberwolves now that Jimmy Butler has been traded. I have always been a huge fan of the Big Kat, Karl Anthony-Towns. I thought that there were chemistry issues in Freeze Town the moment Butler arrived.

Tinsel-Town

The Lakers signing Tyson Chandler seems to be what the Doctor ordered. He brings added defense as well as a veteran presence in the locker room. The Lakers trying to play Kuzma at the five simply was not working. One of the reasons it works for say, Golden State is because of Draymond and KD. Green is savvy enough and tenacious enough to guard some fives. Also, Durant is a legitimate seven-footer. KD also has made a commitment to become a great defensive player. With Kuzma, I am not sure if he is simply overmatched or not committed enough on the defensive end. I expect the Lakers to emerge as the biggest threat to the Warriors supremacy in the West and the NBA.

The Town aka The City

Speaking of the Warriors. It will be interesting to see how the Draymond-Durant drama plays out. I am not a big fan of the extra that Green brings. I give him a pass on being emotional. He is still a young man of 28. Studies show that the male brain does not mature until the age of 25. That makes Draymond 3 years old. And he acts like it sometimes. What I don't give him a pass on is the inability to accept and own his mistakes. Stan Van Gundy said it best. If you are going to be the leader and hold others accountable, then you can't get defensive when others hold you accountable.
