Hot Take: Splinterlands' ORBS Not worth the DEC
I'd love to hear if you agree or disagree.
What I've found is that each orb contains approximately $1's worth of cards on average. If you've tracked a different average please comment with the details.
Each orb costs 2500 dec (yes you get them a bit cheeper at bulk rates of 20 and 100), but let's keep this simple for now.
2500 dec at the current Tronwatch price of .06 TRX is equal to 150 TRX.
TRX is currently trading at $.017, so 150 TRX is equal to $2.55 USDT or similar
So currently, each time you buy an orb instead of buying cards off the market with DEC or TRX you are losing (on average) about $1.55 or nearly 60% of your buying power.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking, but...the legendary's, the gold foils, etc
Most of the golds and common legendary cards are in the $4-12 range (yes, there are a few very expensive drops but the odds are low and you probably end spending $300 worth of DEC to get a $200 card.) But if you are more realistic and looking to grab a $6 Gold Foil Goblin archer, you are much better off buying him off the market for 300 TRX or 5000 DEC.
Of course if everyone does this the market price will go up and the Promo Orbs will become more attractive once more.

I bought opened a bunch of orbs and tracked which cards I received. Then I went to the market and looked up the value for each card. The photo is of a typical batch of cards $.34 $.11 $.34 $.11 $.18 from top left to bottom right. Total value $1.08
