RE: Splinterlands Card Packs! I got lucky this time!

in #splinterlands2 years ago (edited)

@scratched-burnt even if you only played briefly, if it was a while ago, you probably had to buy booster packs/starter cards. Those are now actually worth quite a substantial amount even if it's not super epic or rare. I have some that I found out were worth upwards of $200 on the monster markets they have over there! The bottom of it was a few bucks a pop for the old cards, but the mid-range where most of the cards sat valued at, was around $40-80 still! So for spending about 20-40$ in Hive back in the day to get started or whatever it was, now one card alone profited me and the rest was just excess! I think you can check your Hive account info about that using peakmonsters website, if you need help I can help you out with all of it. In addition to that, if you had Steem before Hive forked off, you have 100% of what you had when it forked at whatever point in time. If you haven't touched Hive at all, that's literally sitting there waiting for you and it's been earning APR% for whatever you had staked/invested. :)

Something well worth looking into! The fact of the matter is, Hive forked from Steem, so by being on Steem, you were instantly already on Hive with whatever stake/holdings you had on Steem. Say you had 100 SP, 100Steem and 100SBD, you would have had the same amount in Hive, at the time it forked. That would be sitting there as Hive, HBD, and HP, waiting on you, using the same keys you use here on Steem to do things. If you have your keys here, you have your keys there. That's the beauty of the fork. :)

Again, if you need help, let me know. You seem intelligent for sure, but always a good reminder, be careful with keys. Don't share them with anyone, even me if I offer help, I only will guide you in where to do what, never ask for them. Lol. :P

Oh nevermind I think you're new to Steem :P
That would mean there's no Hive for you there, although, I'd be willing to send you some/delegate and vote on your content if you did join, so there's that. @scratched-burnt

Wow, thanks for taking the time to give such a thorough response! I am rather new here on steemit, but my fiancé and joint account holder @jae5086 joined steemit back in 2016 so he would have been around for the fork so perhaps we'll check into it from his old account. If I were to join Hive, I don't think I would cross-post/copy+paste.

I have been doing well and received a lot of help from folks in the World of Xpilar community and cross-posting is definitely against the rules there, but that doesn't mean I can't share the same art that I've created. I would simply make sure the wording was different and that should satisfy everyone. I do love the idea of more English speakers. @jae5086 thought when we started this account that it seemed like a lot less English speakers, particularly those from the US, than he remembered from his brief time on the platform years back. Perhaps Hive is where they all went, haha.

On universal basic income, that's actually something I had thought about during the last US presidential election cycle, as one of the candidates was a supporter. My position is that it will be necessary eventually as AI and robotics continue to advance and slowly eat up more and more jobs. We'll simply hit a point (I believe) where there are not enough jobs for people. This, coupled with the consolidation of wealth that is likely to result, I think will force that issue. Not sure it would be in my lifetime though, as I don't expect to see it any time soon.

On Splinterlands, now I am going to have to try to find my old account. I know it was a year or so ago, but I don't think I bought any packs, just the spellbook that you had to buy to get started. I'm pretty sure all packs were sold out and a new expansion at the time was weeks from launching.
