Money is Power. REALLY?

Money is a beautiful tool. It can be used to fund projects, to get sustenance, to give and to receive gifts. But more than anything, it is a medium of exchange. Apart from that, there are some assumptions about money:

• Money is Power.
• Time is money.
• Money makes the world go round.

The statement that I’m making is that Money has as much (or as little) power as we give it. I’m not going to prove that. Instead, let’s see this post as an opportunity for self-discovery.

Was there a time before we gave so much power to money? Yes, when people were living in tribes, they had a more collective world-view and less of an emphasis on individual power through money.

You don’t need to go back to living in a tribe to have a different experience of money. You can go to a new experience now by questioning the assumptions in the list above.

In my book Verbal Dancing I call this questioning of beliefs the Expanding phase. It is the first step of the Basic Rhythm of Verbal Dancing.

When we flow with the Basic Rhythm, we can start to ask bigger questions. Are we really Ego’s, trying to exert power over other Ego’s? Or is that just a belief, one that feels very lonely? And is the illusion of power worth the loneliness, if it’s just a belief?
