Datta Maata 194: The law of time

in #spirituality6 years ago

No one can comprehend the value of the time cycle. The time that is spent can be discussed to some extent and it may be measured to some possible extent. But, we cannot predict anything about that which is going to happen. Hence, elders say that "time" is something which is inexplicable. That is why, kāla (time) is also referred to as Yama and sristi (creation). According to science, the passage of time is measured with the movement of planets. Based on that, the ages of Earth and the stones unearthed from it are calculated. According to the yogic scriptures, the life span of a person is decided based on his breath cycle. Few observe the star at the time of birth of the person and based on that the person's honesty, life span, health and his nature of work are decided. The medical science gives a decision about the person by considering the biological phenomena like the heart rate, stress on the nerves and other qualities. This society decides a man's value based on the individual's intellectual capacity. It calculates whether a person is of superior type or of the other type. A biological doctor will try to replace an organ if it's damaged or he will try to think of some alternate medicine. An astrologer thinks of the future based on the star. A yogi, by enhancing the life forces, tries to overcome all ailments. When we look at all these, we may say that all the above matters are elements of human's body. This is the judiciary system of the nature. Hence, we cannot decide that this body belongs to a specific individual. It does not belong to you, mother, father or society. But, it belongs to everyone because it is being shared by all. Finally, life force also has a share in these. Above everything, the fortune named "Kāla" (time) has it's share.

When a baby is born, many people try to share the authority of it as mother, father, relatives, teachers and so on. But, when the being leaves the body, only pancha bhūtas (the five elements) have their rightful share in it and no one else do. In the mantras chanted during Apara karma, there is a mantra which says, "May the one which has come from Earth get back to it. May the one which took birth from water immerse back into it." Whether we say the mantra or not, this is what exactly happens. This means that taking control of time implies utilizing it judiciously. It must be not be misused.

Once, a king wanted to know how people would cry after his death. Hence, he acted as though he died. Finally, he got up suddenly just before he was about to be burnt. However, the minister who was waiting for a chance to occupy the kingdom had spread the news that the king's spirit had entered his body. After this, the minister really occupied the kingdom. Even though, the king was alive, he had to meet this fate because he tried to misuse the time. Kāla automatically keeps all the beings under its control. It rules over all and grabs everyone into itself. The one who knows the secret of time alone gets control of it. Such a person will not engage in wrong deeds and remains cautious, every moment. He always thinks about God. Such a person is said to be the one who possesses valor. Such a person only is the human. If one catches hold of this trick, the victory over time is possible. This means that all of us are dwelling within the boundaries of time.

hey @sgsposts you are absolutely right about the time and about what happens with the body in the afterlife.
But I want to spread some more light on the fact that in this universe every living being is eternal as stated in the Bhagavad Gita. At the time of death, the soul leaves the body and enters a new one and the cycle repeats. It is also stated that all the living beings are parts and parcels of Lord Krishna that's why they are eternal. No weapon is made or will be made on earth that can destroy a person's soul that is the size of a 100th part of the tip of our hair.
