God is the Source of All Truth
We cannot understand the more advanced things in the Bible with the mind. We need the Holy Spirit Himself to show us the Truth in our spirit.
When we're in the flesh/soul, it wouldn't make any sense why the Bible can be seen literally because Truth can only be seen in the spirit.
If we're working in some way to comprehend the Bible, it means we're coming at it with the mind and preconceived ideas. If we cram and energetically pollute our body/soul full of all kinds of things, we don't have any space in our body/soul to hear from God through our spirit. Plus, sin and unrepentence (not turning away from sin) make us become deaf and blind to our spirit.
Thankfully, God gives us understanding if we ask Him for it. We just have to look towards Him, wait and listen.
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. (1 Cor 2:14)
The seed of the truth needs to be left to lie in the mind in quiet until it is quickened by the Spirit of God. (Jessie Penn-Lewis)
