Prepare Ye

I bring to you two video clips from Godspell (1973). The first one, 'Prepare Ye The way.' I find a number of things interesting in this clip.

1. A city is used as the wilderness. Indeed with so many people it can certainly feel like one. I appreciate this interpretation of this.
2. Only a chosen few heard the call from John as he sang by the fountain. Only a few will hear the call from God in real life. Will you?
3. Notice how they leave their shoes or other baggage behind them in the city, as they run to be baptized. This goes with the idea of leaving your old world and creating a new you through God.
4. The joy that is expressed in being washed up or baptized. One is turned into a new creature when God get hold of you.

The Baptism of Jesus

I offer the second video that goes with this first video. It is the baptism of Christ. I note a few things here as well.

1. How Christ has a S for super person outfit upon His baptism. This again goes along with the change in ones life upon acceptance of God into their life.

2. He has a mission and a purpose as evident in his expression and gait.

Sometimes one must look at the positive points of interpretation rather than the scriptural accuracy of the writing. Also consider the day and time this was written. 1973 was during the climax of the hippie era. People are reached and come to Christ differently. I enjoy this show brings, though I still am partial to 'Jesus Christ Super Star.'
