RE: SPIRITUAL FOOD 4 THOUGHT - WHAT ABOMINATIONS ARE YOU COMFORTABLE WITH?

in #spirituality6 years ago

It seems Jason that you have a problem with James because James says that faith and works go together to make someone righteous, that their faith alone in Jesus cant make them righteous.

Listen, my beloved brothers: Has Elohim not chosen the poor of this world, rich in belief and heirs of the reign which He promised to those who love Him? My brothers, what use is it for anyone to say he has belief but does not have works? This belief is unable to save him. So also belief, if it does not have works, is in itself dead. But someone might say, “You have belief, and I have works.” Show me your belief without your works, and I shall show you my belief by my works. You see, then, that a man is declared right by works, and not by belief alone.

That is one of the most misunderstood passages of scripture. You quote it without regards to what Paul taught in Romans 4 that a man is indeed justified and declared Righteous apart from the works of the law. A student of God's written word needs to take it all into account and find the truth about how apparent contradictions are actually in harmony if one understands the relationship between works prompted from faith and works that are meant to justify oneself. There is a mountain of difference between the two in the eyes of God.
