The Windsor Gem & Mineral Fair 2017 (Day 01)
The Windsor Gem & Mineral Fair seems like a lifetime ago when actually it was only on 3 weeks ago.
I remember that morning. It was a sad morning waking up to bad news which prompted me to go back to bed unwilling to face the world for a few hours more.
We woke up realising we were late for the house inspection we had lined up that morning and couldnt go (that house sold that weekend btw.) and we were late for the gem show. We wanted to get in early and have the pick of the lost before the crowd came in.
We hustled and before you know it we were in Winmalee having a bite to eat before we spend the afternoon with crystals.
(That milkshake was really good! I was surprised at how lush it was. The pasta was not the most appealing looking thing but it had eggplant in it and I always order the eggplant dish.)
About 20 more minutes travel and we got there! YES!!! Been looking forward to this since Gemkhana
Going in I really only thought to see what other specimens they had so I could add them to my collection. The last show had tumbleds but nothing I didn't already had, I also vaguely remember seeing silver and copper coins for sale last time and wondered if that guy was going to be at the fair.
The fair was located in the Windsor Function center and I'm glad it was. It was a stinking hot one and the center was blissfully air-conditioned. That alone was worth the $7 entry fee that day.
They had the usual stuff.
Carved balls, bowls and boxes all in different types of crystals.
Minerals galore!
The usual assortment of 'to die for but it blows the budget' minerals. I admire them from afar.
Specimens.
The guy we bought our specimens from last time was there, although he didn't seem to have much stock there that day, which was lucky because another seller had the $5 specials!
Fossils.
These really called out to me this time around. I can't quite remember seeing these many fossils at the last one and for sure I would have remembered this huge slab.
Crystal Encounters.
Crystal Encounters was actually the first stall we found that day, and it was also the best stall of the day that's why I left them for last.
I wondered why there were chairs by the wall beside it.. Until I parked myself there to narrow down my selection.
Here's some of the goodies from this gorgeous lady's store.
DRUM ROLL please!
Behold! The biggest selection of tumbled stones I have ever seen.
I went on gaga mode. I totally get why they put the seats there.
At least an hour went into going through those stumbled stones and still we got home realising we didn't get something the other had, thus 'Day 01'.
Crystal Encounters had all the RARE stuff. The stuff I have been hunting down for ages but have never been able to find, she had them. She had my Brandberg, my Morganite, my Cacoxenite, my Auralite!! She had it all. If you think I was going batty, you should have seen Hubby.
He got twice the amount I got, I actually had to sit on those seats again while I was waiting for him to finish crystal shopping.
Sitting got boring so I went for a wander on my own and found the coin guy!!!
Yay!! He had the gorgeous Freedom copper round!! I saw that design on someone's Steemit post and loved it. You can imagine how happy I was to see it in person and see it was affordable. Guess who came home with her first Copper Round!? 🙋
The coin guy was our last stop. It was about 2pm when we left on a crystal high but exhausted all the same, thinking we got everything we could possibly get.
That was until the next morning 😆
Stay tuned for Day 02 of the Windsor Gem & Mineral Fair

Thanks for the info of sndbox I appreciate your post @bearone
I'm so glad you had a great day. Nice for you to recharge and forget your house hunting drama for a bit!
Those crystals where beautiful!
I'm drooling over here! It would be so hard to walk away from any of these! The energy in the air there must have been amazing. My head is already buzzing with excitement and I was no where near there! Great finds. If you don't mind my asking...about how much does the average person spend at a show like this? There is to be one not too far from me and I really should budget myself.
This is like wonderland to me!! Thank you for sharing! It's like strolling over the fair with you! :)
So. much. EYE CANDY! Thank you for letting me live vicariously through your gem show visit (not quite as satisfying as being there, but definitely safer on my wallet!). I haven't been to a decent sized gem show in years - you're inspiring me to start looking into local events again!
