The perfect plan has no plan
Curveballs are Universal reminders that we shouldn't adhere too strictly to a thought-made plan and instead open up to the limitless possibilities of unfoldment so as to always stay flexible in our decision-making, with utter Trust and Faith that the way 'things' develop is the highest vibrational path for our Soul with the most long-term positive lesson for us.
A plan doesn't require thought-made road maps.
Creating too much of a thought-made road map not only shuts us close towards attaining goals in wondrous and unexpected ways, but also do potential curveballs have the potential to catch us off guard and paralyze us due to our thorough road map not having calculated that unexpected obstacle. Our thinking mind only sees what lies within the eye.
A vision is a plan without thought-made road maps
Cultivating a vision comes about devoid of thought attachment. Intuition becomes our panacea, because it sees what lies withou the eye. Letting our every movement and action become a preemptive measure against the curveball's troublesome impact on our subconscious so that when it shows up in our conscious it will have already been "dismantled".
Having said that, the perfect plan is not having a plan, because only this way we can always flexibly adapt to no matter what is thrown at us!

Few battle plans survive first contact. Amateur fighters try to prepare by planning it, then are shocked when something unaccounted for happens. Professional fighters train to make things instinct and reflex, then get their head into the vision of victory. Instinct takes over.

Good that you come up with the fighters theme. I had an article recently dedicated to Martial Arts whereby I said that virtually all fights are decided in the subconscious. Connection to one's inner Light and Oneness is what connects us with infinite creativity. Fear is decisive factor ;)
