Seek out the self
Therefore, it is in our interest that we raise the intensity of our desire so high that other than experiencing Brahmn, there is no other desire left. Only then can we get closer to Brahmn. Otherwise, the Divine will remain far away, even though He resides within us. God first created the universe and then he created human beings and all life; they started doing different tasks, powered by their own desires, and started enjoying the fruits of their desires. And when the desires remained unfulfilled at the end of life, transmigration started happening.
This set in motion the cycle of birth and rebirth. The initial bliss that the spirit got in the company of the Divine, could not be replicated, even after several births. Divine reunion is possible only in human form, because man has the power of discretion. So the goal of each human being should be to merge with the Supreme. This is easier said than done as our mind is filled with desires and samskaras, and whatever we do is influenced by these. Endless desires and wishes keep us away from Brahmn.
Some of our wishes get fulfilled and some don’t. These unfulfilled desires, coupled with anger, hatred and greed do not let us experience the Divine. We keep pushing back the Divine, whereas God should have been the first one we reach out to. We don’t remember God for His own sake; we remember Him just so our wishes are fulfilled.
