Spiritual teachings on faith: For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected

in #spiritual3 years ago

False asceticism was something common in the early days of the church, the Christian faith explains that asceticism is something natural, asceticism itself, is the growth in values. In reality, there is no greater asceticism than living according to the law of grace, that is, the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, Matthew 7:12. Righteousness is the path to spiritual enlightenment.
In Jesus' time there were heretical doctrines (heresy means the teaching of error), which denied marriage and proposed the elimination of certain food to achieve spiritual purity. On this subject Paul makes a clear statement: "For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.", 1 Timothy 4:4

When Jesus speaks to us of the commandment of love ("Love your neighbor as yourself", Mark 12:31), we have to understand that this commandment contains a special concept within the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the concept of progressiveness: the love of Jesus is a "progressive love."
The first love is "eros" love, the child looks for his mother, needs her attention and in return the child gives his love, the child's love is "I want", "I want". For some reason there are people who stay in this boyish love, and live their lives as wayward children.
Then there are other people who advance to that adolescent love, that is, that love tinged with friendship and virtue, the love that comes from the pleasure of seeing ourselves reflected in the other. For these people there is nothing more important in life than living surrounded by good friends.
Finally there are people who advance even more and those are the people who reach true love, the adult love, love projected towards the whole creation of God, the Agape love. This love is a spiritual gift, a perfection from God and leads man to a new birth: "No one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again", John 3:3. The asceticism of man has no more science than this. Asceticism has no secret techniques.
As King Solomon explains to us in his book wisdom: "The beginning of wisdom is the most sincere desire for instruction", Wisdom 6:17.
