The earliest records of whiskey distillation date back to the 15th century, when Scots and Irishmen began the process of fermenting grains (mainly malted barley) and distilled the result, calling the product "Acqua Vitae" (water of life) to Use as a medicinal product.
During the American Revolution, the drink was used as a coin and George Washington owned a distillery in Mount Vernon. During the Dry Law (1920-1933), only two alcoholic beverages were allowed for consumption: wine, for religious reasons, and whiskey, by prescription.

Benefits of Whiskey for Health:

  1. Stimulates memory: Whiskey contains antioxidants that help improve brain health. In addition, ethanol contained in alcohol stimulates blood circulation, which also contributes to the proper functioning of memory.

  2. Relieves Stress: In moderation, whiskey can reduce stress and calm nerves. The combination between reducing brain activity and increasing circulation, which supplies the brain with oxygenated blood, is essential to calm down.

  3. Combat Weight Gain: Compared with its counterparts, whiskey is a low-calorie, non-fat, cholesterol-free alcoholic beverage. If you are on a diet but want to enjoy a drink, this is your best bet.

  4. Reduces stroke risk: Whiskey prevents cholesterol from accumulating in the cardiovascular system and can help remove excess cholesterol in the body. It also relaxes the walls of the arteries, reducing the risk of obstruction. All this helps to reduce the risk of strokes considerably.

  5. Reduces cancer risk: Whiskey has an antioxidant called "ellagic acid," a substance that prevents DNA from coming into contact with carcinogens.

  6. Aids in digestion: For centuries whiskey was considered an aid to digestion and consumed after heavy meals. The composition of whiskey and its high percentage of alcohol make it an appetite suppressant.

  1. Make you live longer: Antioxidants in whiskey help fight free radicals - the number one cause of aging, in addition to preventing various diseases. Thus, your body can have a longer and healthier life.
  2. Can be consumed - moderately - by diabetics: A dose of whiskey, never drunk on an empty stomach, will not harm diabetics. Care must be taken, as the drink does not contain carbohydrates, its high alcohol content may cause hypoglycaemia (blood sugar level less than healthy).
  3. Improve Your Heart Health: Drinking whiskey can actually help your heart stay healthy because it has a similar effect to red wine. It reduces the risk of clot formation and therefore prevents the occurrence of strokes and heart attacks. Whiskey's antioxidants also inhibit the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein, a major factor in heart disease.
  4. Improves Brain Health: Research conducted in 2003 has shown that, thanks to the antioxidant qualities of ellagic acid, moderate whiskey consumption reduces the risk of Alzheimer's and dementia, as well as improves cognitive functions. Basically one dose a day is enough.
  5. Prevents and treats flu and colds: Whiskey is known for its positive effects on allergies and colds. It is an effective syrup for that cough caused by a "throat itch." Alcohol helps to kill bacteria in the throat. Better results are obtained by adding a little whiskey to a cup with hot water and lime juice
