I THINK I have finally decided on an identification for this spider I saw the other day. She was on the cardboard outside the kitchen and she was pretty mellow. Many spiders seem to just bolt when the large presence of a human comes near, but this Lynx spider held her ground and checked me out as I took of pictures of her.

Part of what leads me to believe this is the Striped Lynx spider is the pictures I have seen in my searches online of the female have showed the more similar colors to this and the smaller pedipalps than the males. The range of most resources state that the striped is not prevalent in our are but that doesn't stop animals and insects from moving their butts where they want to go, or getting transported there against their will. Though I have found pictures that seem to indicate that the spider is the WESTERN Lynx, it seems the majority says STRIPED.

This spider is not a large web builder and tends to ambush it's prey from the foliage, generally jumping or leaping at it or using its web to lower down over the prey. This being my first encounter that I remember I can only attest to her tranquility and appearance. I still find myself amazed at the size of the hairs on her legs. It looks like the Hawthorne bush thorns in my yard.
