Relaxin the night away

Symphysis pubic disorder can be really debilitating during pregnancy, I remember when I was pregnant with my first seeing seemingly perfectly fit women ending up on crutches towards the end of their pregnancy.

Your pubic symphysis is the joint at the front of your pelvis, commonly referred to as your pubic bone. During birth this joint needs to open slightly to allow your baby to pass through, There is a hormone, called Relaxin, which targets the collagen of certain tissues that have relaxin receptors (it doesn’t target muscles contrary to popular belief).
If the muscles surrounding your pelvis are not strong enough to hold your pelvis stable these two halves will be unstable and that is what causes the pain.

Two exercises which are great for strengthening the muscles surrounding the pelvis are the pelvic list and the monster walk. These two might no tbe so good if you are already suffering from SPD as they cause the pelvis to be asymmetric which will worsen the pain. There are a couple of things you can do for that which I will cover tomorrow.
